The Valley's Largest Solar Panel Rooftop Installation
AHD has taken the significant step of investing in the San Fernando Valley's largest solar power installations - 600 panels generating 100 kilowatts of clean, renewable electricity. This solar array, on the roof of the AHD facility, will supply all the electrical needs of the 28,000-square foot facility and will also satisfy the fuel needs of all of the fleet of electric electric cars owned by American Hi Definition and Sweetwater Digital. To celebrate, AHD hosted the 2007 Renewable L.A. event in tandem with Energy Efficiency Solar, the company that installed the vast array.
What's there:
600 190-watt Evergreen solar panels generating 100 kilowatts of electricity - all of AHD's present energy needs.
What are the savings?
In the air: Bypassing the electricity purchased the solar array will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 180,000 pounds each year.
In the pocketbook: The solar panels, which have a lifespan of roughly 50 years, will supply solar energy to the site for decades with upfront costs to be recovered in about 10 years (at current rates).
